Hulu's thriller series "Furious" will wrap its first season on Monday, Aug. 31, with the finale capping an eight-episode run that has seen viewership climb week over week since its July 27 premiere.
Created, written and executive produced by Elizabeth Meriwether — known for "New Girl," "The Dropout" and "Dying for Sex" — the series stars Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, who pursues a calculating female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. Per the show's logline, "Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur."
"Furious" is loosely inspired by the 1987 psychological thriller film "Black Widow," directed by Bob Rafelson. Hulu first announced the series order in March 2025.
The cast also includes Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy, with guest appearances from Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang and Steve Way.
Variety chief TV critic Alison Herman reviewed the first season favorably, praising its "stellar cast" and writing that the show "delivers a compelling study of female victimhood and what happens when women break our culture's limited scripts for it."
Rossum executive produced through her company Composition 8 alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman. Brian Kirk served as executive producer and directed the first two episodes. "Furious" is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.
