Ben Stiller will moderate a conversation with William Shatner as part of the "Star Trek" panel at New York Comic-Con this Saturday, Variety has learned exclusively.
It was previously reported that Shatner would take part in the panel, which arrives as the "Star Trek" franchise marks its 60th anniversary. The panel is scheduled for Oct. 10, running from 3:15 to 4:15 pm ET on the Empire Stage at NYCC. Alongside the Stiller-Shatner conversation, the panel will also include the cast and creators of "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" Season 2, with that portion moderated by Collider's Perri Nemiroff.
Stiller, a lifelong "Star Trek" fan, has often discussed how the original series shaped his life and career. He and Shatner share a history of collaboration: Stiller appeared in the documentary "The Truth Is in the Stars," which Shatner hosted, and Shatner made a cameo alongside Stiller in the comedy "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story."
Stiller's current projects include "Severance" Season 3 for Apple TV, along with starring roles in the Apple TV series "Off Weeks" and "Protective Custody." He is also set to return to the "Meet the Parents" franchise in "Focker-in-Law," starring alongside Robert De Niro and Ariana Grande, which hits theaters Nov. 25.
The "Starfleet Academy" Season 2 segment of the panel will feature series stars Holly Hunter, Sandro Rosta, Bella Shepard, Karim Diané and Robert Picardo, joined by co-showrunners and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau. The show does not yet have a premiere date but is slated to debut in 2027. Variety exclusively reported in March that this upcoming season will be the series' last.
