Black Doves Season 2: Release Date, Cast and Where to Watch

Black Doves returned to Netflix on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, with all six episodes at once. Season 2 picks up after the bloody Christmas of season 1: Helen is still passing her country's secrets to the Black Doves while her husband Wallace prepares to become prime minister, and her handler, Mrs. Reed, is caught in a plot against her position. Helen turns to Sam, and the case takes them from London to Paris.

Creator and writer Joe Barton has promised that "Downing Street will never be the same again." Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes direct.

What critics are saying

Reviews published on release day are mostly positive, with the main complaint that the bigger action costs some of season 1's emotional weight. As of Nov. 5, 2026:

• Collider (Carly Lane, 9/10) calls it bigger and better than season 1, with reservations about Neve Campbell's role and the security at Number 10.
• NME (Matt Maytum) finds it a "ludicrously enjoyable spy thriller", if you accept how many missions Helen fits around her public life.
• Absolute Geeks (3.7/5) is cooler: slick and binge-friendly, but less moving than the first season.

If season 1 hooked you on Helen and Sam rather than on the plot, start with tempered expectations; if you came for the action, this is the stronger season.

Where season 1 left off

Spoilers for season 1. The man who ordered the hit on Helen's lover, Jason, was Trent Clark, son of crime boss Alex Clark. Trent had accidentally killed Ambassador Chen in an argument, and Jason, who turned out to be an MI5 agent investigating Helen, was killed to bury it. In the finale Sam shot both Trent and Alex so Helen would not have to.

By Christmas, Helen had thrown Jason's hard drive into the Thames and stayed with both Wallace and the Black Doves. Sam lost any chance of leaving the assassin life, with the surviving Clarks out for revenge. Eleanor and Williams survived and befriended Ambassador Chen's daughter, Kai-Ming, and the nanny, Marie, and Dani were revealed as Black Doves working for Reed.

How to watch Black Doves

Both seasons stream only on Netflix, on every plan, including Standard with ads. Season 1, which premiered on Dec. 5, 2024, is six episodes long, so it is a short catch-up before starting season 2.

It is one of the biggest releases in everything new on Netflix in November 2026.
