Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to produce a film adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077, working alongside CD Projekt Red, the Poland-based, award-winning developer that holds the rights to the franchise.

The story is set in Night City, a fictional cyberpunk metropolis located in California within the game's dystopian universe. The narrative follows V, a mercenary who becomes reluctantly bound to a cybernetic "biochip" carrying an engram of Johnny Silverhand, described as a legendary rockstar and terrorist. As Silverhand's consciousness threatens to overwrite V's own, the pair must find a way to separate while confronting the Arasaka Corporation, the powerful megacorporation that functions as the city's de facto ruling power, in order to save V's life.

Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide since its release, and its expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has added another 15 million in sales.

The project adds to Paramount's growing slate of video game adaptations. The studio is also co-producing a Street Fighter film with Legendary, which is scheduled to open on October 16. Additionally, Paramount has a Call of Duty movie in the works, with Peter Berg attached to direct and co-write the script alongside Taylor Sheridan.
