Rebecca Ferguson — Black Bear Nabs 'Honeymoon / Funeral' With Ferguson, Lee, Coon

Black Bear has acquired domestic rights to 'Honeymoon / Funeral,' a romantic comedy starring Rebecca Ferguson, Greta Lee and Carrie Coon, the company announced after the project was shopped out of the newly created film market at the Toronto International Film Festival.

According to the official logline, the story follows two women who meet on a flight from Los Angeles to London — one traveling to her honeymoon alone after being left at the altar by her girlfriend, the other heading home for her mother's funeral — who end up spending the week together.

'Totally Killer' filmmaker Nahnatchka Khan directs from a screenplay by Julia Bicknell.

"'Honeymoon / Funeral' is an original and hilarious story that is deeply human, anchored by the performances of Rebecca, Greta and Carrie, three of the best actresses working today," said Katie Anderson, Black Bear's EVP of Acquisitions. "We can't wait to partner with our friends at MRC and FilmNation to share this world that Nahnatchka and Julia have created with audiences."

Khan and Jennifer Carreras produce under the Fierce Baby banner, with Bicknell also serving as a producer. MRC financed and oversaw production, while FilmNation Entertainment is handling worldwide sales. The film is currently in post-production after wrapping filming in London in September 2026.

Black Bear's upcoming slate also includes 'Wicker,' starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård and Peter Dinklage; Guy Ritchie's 'Wife & Dog,' starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins; David Leitch's 'Jason Statham Stole My Bike,' starring Jason Statham and Hannah Waddingham; 'A Woman in the Sun,' starring Renée Zellweger and Sissy Spacek; 'Jonah,' starring Greta Lee and Cooper Hoffman; and 'Atmosphere,' directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel.

MRC's recent releases include 'The Love Hypothesis,' 'Wuthering Heights,' 'American Fiction,' 'Knives Out' and 'Saltburn.' The company's upcoming films include 'The Only Living Pickpocket in New York,' 'The Gallerist,' 'A Place in Hell,' 'The Best is Yet To Come' and 'Eloise.'
