Christopher Abbott — Christopher Abbott Hasn't Read X-Men Script Yet

Christopher Abbott, who attended Netflix's 'East of Eden' premiere on Sept. 30, 2026 in New York City, says he still hasn't laid eyes on a script for his upcoming turn as Professor X in Marvel Studios' X-Men movie.

"I haven't read anything yet. Nothing," Abbott told Entertainment Tonight. "I'm not even being coy. It's true, I haven't read anything. But I'm excited to work with Jake Schreier, I think he's a great director, and that cast is really good. I can't wait. I love X-Men."

Abbott's casting as Charles Xavier/Professor X, a role previously played by Sir Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy, was announced in August. He joins a cast that includes Adam Driver as Nathaniel Millbury/Mister Sinister, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Asa Germann as Angel.

Marvel brought on Schreier to direct X-Men last May, following the premiere of his previous MCU project, Thunderbolts*. The script is being written by Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear showrunner Joanna Calo. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
