"Reacher" star Alan Ritchson revealed on Threads that plans to bring Lee Child's novel "Die Trying" to Prime Video had once been given the green light, before being derailed by a political development.
Ritchson made the comment on Friday in response to a fan who wrote, "every year I'm sad to learn that next season won't be the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp." Ritchson replied that the novel is his "favorite book," adding: "Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected."
"Die Trying," the second book in Child's Jack Reacher series, was first published in 1998. The story follows Reacher and a politician's daughter after they are abducted by a radical militia intent on using them as leverage in political negotiations.
The remark drew a public response from White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson, who said, "Just as President Trump has said, he's been totally exonerated on anything relating to Epstein."
Season 4 of "Reacher" premiered in August on Prime Video. Season 3 of the series had already become Prime Video's most-watched season since "Fallout" Season 1, a success that led to a Season 5 renewal ahead of Season 4's debut.
