Amazon Prime Video’s long-awaited God of War live-action series is gaining momentum as Teresa Palmer officially joins the cast, adding another high-profile name to the ambitious adaptation of PlayStation’s legendary franchise.
Palmer will portray Sif, a powerful figure in Norse mythology and the wife of Thor. In the game universe, Sif is closely tied to the Aesir gods, making her a key presence in the unfolding story. The casting further deepens the show’s mythological roots, especially as Ryan Hurst has already been confirmed to star as Kratos — the battle-hardened warrior at the heart of the saga. Notably, Hurst previously lent his voice to Thor in God of War: Ragnarök, creating an intriguing crossover between the game and the series.
A Story Centered on Fatherhood and Fate
Rather than retelling Kratos’ earliest battles, the series will draw inspiration from the franchise’s most recent and emotionally driven chapters. The narrative follows Kratos and his young son Atreus as they embark on a perilous journey to honor the memory of Faye, wife and mother. Along the way, the hardened god must learn restraint and compassion, while Atreus struggles to understand both his divine heritage and his humanity.
This balance between epic action and intimate storytelling is expected to be a defining feature of the show, setting it apart from traditional fantasy adaptations.
A Major Production with a Proven Creative Team
The project is being overseen by Ronald D. Moore, known for acclaimed series such as Outlander and For All Mankind. Moore serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, signaling Amazon’s commitment to a character-driven adaptation rather than a purely spectacle-based one.
Frederick E.O. Toye is set to direct the first two episodes, while the series is produced through a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Tall Ship Productions. The show has reportedly received a multi-season commitment, with pre-production already underway.
Teresa Palmer’s Growing Television Presence
Palmer brings extensive experience across both film and television. She is widely recognized for roles in A Discovery of Witches, Warm Bodies, Hacksaw Ridge, and The Fall Guy. Her recent projects include Australian drama The Family Next Door and upcoming international productions, further cementing her status as a versatile global performer.
Her casting adds emotional range and star power to God of War, positioning the series as one of Prime Video’s most anticipated genre releases.
A Franchise Built for the Small Screen
With more than a decade of successful games and a passionate global fanbase, God of War arrives on television with massive expectations. Amazon’s adaptation appears poised to blend cinematic scale, mythological depth, and emotional storytelling — a combination that could turn the series into a flagship title for the platform.
As casting continues and production ramps up, anticipation for God of War is only intensifying, signaling a major moment for video game adaptations on streaming.
