Stars Collective, LH International Launch AI Content Fund

Stars Collective and LH International are forming a joint venture built around artificial intelligence, backed by a content fund with a target size of $300 million to finance development and production across film, TV and digital projects.

The fund will support a slate of projects aimed at the international market, with the JV using AI tools to develop, produce and distribute content. According to the companies, the venture will draw on "Stars Collective's entertainment IP, its network of affiliated and signed artists, creators and industry talent, and established Hollywood development, production and global distribution resources, together with LH International's capital resources, project experience and its business and industry network overseas."

Stars Collective Co-CEO Nancy Xu will lead the partnership. Xu previously served as an executive producer on Netflix's The Rip, which stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Of the new venture, Xu said: "With AI technology and computing power behind us, we aim to improve the efficiency of content development and production, and to incubate projects that can reach a global audience and have long-term franchise potential."

Elena Chen, CEO of International Investment Strategy at LH International, said the partnership pairs creative and capital resources: "By combining [Stars Collective's] content and Hollywood industry resources with LH International's capital resources, project experience and its work building AI computing centers overseas, we can jointly establish a content business built for the global market. AI technology, computing power and the content fund will give that business a new engine for growth."

Stars Collective was founded in 2020 by Luo as an IP incubator organized around a mentor system involving filmmakers and directors. The company's recent credits include The Monkey, The Rip and The Garfield Movie. Its upcoming slate includes Grandma, Please, a Mandarin-language adaptation of the Sundance film Thelma.
