Ramirez has joined the cast of 'Miami Vice '85,' a new film reimagining of the classic series inspired by the pilot episode of the original Universal Television show. The project, described as an all-new version exploring the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami, is being produced by Dylan Clark of Dylan Clark Productions along with Kosinski. It is not yet known who Ramirez will play in the film.
The movie will be filmed for Imax and is targeting a release date of May 19, 2028, with production set to begin this year. The script comes from Gilroy and is based on characters originally created by Anthony Yerkovich, who executive produced the source series alongside Michael Mann. An earlier draft of the screenplay was written by Eric Warren Singer.
Overseeing the project for the studio are EVP Production Development Sara Scott and Creative Executive of Production Development Christina Hoffrogge.
Ramirez recently wrapped production on Todd Haynes' 'De Noche' opposite Pedro Pascal, as well as 'Baton,' a project he both directed and wrote. He is next set to appear in Marvel's 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Ramirez is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, Brillstein Partners, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.
