A video circulating on social media shows Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan recreating the famous Abbey Road album cover to promote Sam Mendes' upcoming four-film Beatles biopic series, titled "The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event." The clip was posted by the account @BeatlesBiopics on August 16, 2026, with the caption: "Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan recreate the iconic Abbey Road album cover for the Beatles Biopics 🎬 #BeatlesBiopics."
Mescal stars as Paul McCartney, Quinn plays George Harrison, Keoghan portrays Ringo Starr and Dickinson plays John Lennon. Each of the four films will tell the story from the perspective of a different band member, and all are scheduled for release in April 2028 through Sony Pictures. The project marks the first time the Beatles and their estates have granted life rights and music clearance for a theatrical feature film about the band.
The supporting cast includes Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney, James Norton as Brian Epstein, Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey, Anna Sawai as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, Harry Lloyd as George Martin, David Morrissey as Jim McCartney, Leanne Best as Mimi Smith, Bobby Schofield as Neil Aspinall, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill as Mal Evans, Arthur Darvill as Derek Taylor and Adam Pally as Allen Klein.
The official logline for the project reads: "Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary." Speaking at CinemaCon 2025, Mendes, who is directing all four installments, called the project the "first binge-able theatrical experience." It remains unclear whether the four films will be released all at once or rolled out weekly across April. Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman said at the time that principal photography across the four films would take a year to complete.
