Taylor Swift Sets New Global Chart Record With “The Fate of Ophelia”

Taylor Swift continues to prove that her global influence is stronger than ever.

Her latest single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” has returned to the top of both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excluding U.S. charts, marking its fifth week at No. 1 worldwide — and rewriting her own chart history in the process.

After briefly slipping to second place last week on the Global 200, the track surged back to the summit, while remaining untouched at No. 1 on the international-only ranking. The song originally debuted at the top of both charts in October, and its staying power is now turning into one of the defining chart runs of Swift’s career.

A New Personal Best for Swift

With this achievement, Swift secures her longest reign ever on the Billboard Global 200, surpassing the four-week run of her 2022 smash “Anti-Hero.” On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, she also extends her record for her longest continuous domination.

The numbers behind the success are just as impressive.

In the tracking week ending January 15, “The Fate of Ophelia” pulled in:

  • 78.3 million global streams (up 2% from the previous week)
  • 17,000 digital sales worldwide (a 41% jump)

A major factor behind the renewed momentum was the release of a new remix by TELYKAST & XanTz, followed by an extended version just a day later — a strategy that clearly reignited fan interest and boosted sales.

Competition Stays Strong Behind Her

While Swift holds the crown, several major releases continue to perform strongly just behind her.

Djo’s “End of Beginning” slips to No. 2 after earning its first-ever week at No. 1, fueled in part by renewed attention around the final season of Stranger Things. HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” a breakout hit connected to the Netflix series KPop Demon Hunters, remains firmly planted at No. 3 after spending an extraordinary 18 weeks at the top earlier this year.

One of the week’s biggest debuts comes from Bruno Mars, whose new single “I Just Might” enters both global charts at No. 4. The track serves as the lead single from his upcoming album The Romantic, set for release on February 27, and becomes his fifth global top 10 hit since the chart’s launch.

Elsewhere in the top tier, Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” slides to No. 5 after peaking at No. 3.

International Charts Tell a Similar Story

Outside the United States, Swift’s dominance remains just as firm.

On the Global Excluding U.S. chart, “The Fate of Ophelia” logs:

  • 61.5 million streams outside the U.S.
  • 6,000 sales internationally

Djo and HUNTR/X once again follow at No. 2 and No. 3, while Bruno Mars opens at No. 4 with strong overseas numbers.

One of the most surprising stories of the week belongs to Zara Larsson.

Her 2015 hit “Lush Life” has staged a viral-driven comeback, climbing into the Global Excl. U.S. top 10 for the first time after a 25% jump in international streams. A decade after its release, the track is now finding a brand-new audience.

How the Global Charts Are Measured

The Billboard Global 200 and Global Excluding U.S. charts rank songs based on a weighted formula that combines:

  • Official audio and video streams
  • Subscription and ad-supported platforms
  • Digital download sales worldwide
