Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" has tied Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for the most weeks ever spent atop the Billboard Hot 100, with both songs now sitting at 22 nonconsecutive weeks in the top spot. Carey's holiday staple, released in 1994, typically gets an annual boost once the Christmas season arrives — a stretch Carey herself has described as when she "defrosts," usually sometime in November. With that season still roughly two months away, Langley's country hit is in position to overtake Carey and claim the record for the biggest song in Hot 100 history outright.
"Choosin' Texas" was released in October 2025 and first reached Number One in February. After returning to the top on July 4, it has held the position ever since, effectively locking in its status as the Song of the Summer. Langley's sophomore album, Dandelion, has also climbed back to Number One on the Billboard albums chart.
The success comes amid a broader surge for country music on the charts. At the start of August, country songs occupied all five of the top spots on the Billboard 100: "Choosin' Texas" at Number One, followed by Morgan Wallen's "Been By Now," Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You," the Wallen-Langley duet "I Can't Love You Anymore," and Stella Lefty's "Boston," which has now held the Number Two slot for a second consecutive week. Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You" also reached Number One on country radio — her first single to do so in 13 years — and earned her first CMA Award nomination in four years.
Langley enters the upcoming 60th CMA Awards as the most-nominated artist, with nine nominations total, including Single of the Year for "Choosin' Texas" and Entertainer of the Year.
